Srinagar: As many as 102 additional companies of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have arrived in Kashmir Valley in the past two-and-a-half months to quell the pro-freedom uprising triggered by the killing of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Commander, Burhan Wani by Indian forces on July 8, this year.

More than 8000 personnel of CRPF have been sent to Kashmir in the past 78 days to contain the pro-freedom protests taking place across the territory.

The fresh induction is in addition to 47 battalions of the force already stationed in Kashmir. “Yes, we have deployed 102 additional companies in the region during the unrest, apart from our battalions that are already present in the region,” a senior CRPF officer, preferring anonymity, disclosed.
