IHC orders for fixing Shireen Mazari petition against Khawaja Asif for hearing

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) while removing the objections raised by its registrar office on Shireen Mazari petition against defence minister Khawaja Asif has ordered for fixing it for hearing.

The petition was filed by Shireen Mazari against defence minister Khawaja Asif for calling her tractor trolley in National Assembly (NA).

Justice Athar Minallah of IHC took up for hearing the case with registrar office objections Monday.

Registrar office had raised objection that parliament’s proceedings can not be discussed in the court.

Barrister Shoaib Razzaq counsel for Shireen Mazari said this was a defamation case as it involved a personal attack by Khawaja Asif against the woman law maker.

Shireen Mazari requested the court to direct speaker NA to take disciplinary action against Khawaja Asif. The order be issued for referring matter of disqualification of Khawaja Asif to Election commission. PML-N leader used insulting words against her in NA on JUNE, 8. These words were telecast by television channels and its videos are available on social media.

Law minister, defence minister Khawaja Asif, speaker NA and minister for parliamentary affairs have been made respondents in the petition.
