Pakistani professor selected for Int’l Olympiad steering committee

KARACHI: The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) has selected a senior Pakistani professor as a member of the IChO’s steering committee.

Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Khan, who is serving at International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has been selected from the outsized pool of officials belonging to 82 countries in the world.

The steering committee is the body assisting Olympiad organizers and coordinating efforts for future Olympiads.

The orgainising committee of the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad invited the Pakistani scientist to attend the IChO steering committee meeting that is going to be held during January 11 to 15, 2017 at Mahidol University, Salyaa Campus Nakron Pathon Province, Thailand.

An official of ICCBS said here on Monday that it is pertinent to mention here that Prof Khalid Khan is also serving as a coordinator to the National Chemistry Talent Contest (NCTC).

He said that the Vice Chancellor University of Karachi Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, the Patron-in-Chief of the ICCBS Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman and Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Chaudhry have congratulated Prof. Dr Khalid M Khan for his achievement, and said that this is an honour for the country.
