Islamabad - Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad police has arrested an auto-lifter and recovered a vehicle from his possession, a police spokesman said yesterday.

According to details, on September 22, 2016, Raja Baber Hussain parked his car (AW-321) in the parking of PIMS which was stolen on which a case number 253/16 in police station Karachi Company was registered. On rescue 15 call Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Sajid Kiani directed SP Investigation, Islamabad Capt (Retd) Muhammad Ilyas to trace the said vehicle and its recovery. SP Investigation assigned this task to In-charge ACLC SI Liaqat to trace/arrest the auto lifter. The in-charge ACLC constituted a team which caught the auto lifter along with the stolen vehicle from Sawabi motorway. The arrested accused has been identified as Muhammad Bashir alias Chita son of Abdullah Khan, resident of village Narah Tehseel Balakot, district Mansehra.

During preliminary investigation, the accused said he placed fake number plates to disguise police and was heading to Peshawar to sell off the stolen vehicle.
