ISLAMABAD - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Tuesday arrested Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Axact, Shoaib Sheikh, in connection with a fake degree scandal.

A senior official of FIA said that Sheikh was arrested in connection with the Axact fake degree case. He will be produced before a local court today, he added. Earier, Sheikh and more than 20 accused were sentenced by the court to 20 years in prison besides imposition of fine on them. The Axact scandal surfaced in May 2015 when The New York Times published a report claiming that the company had made millions of dollars by selling fake diplomas and degrees online through fictitious educational institutions.
