Pakistan wants normal ties with India not war, says FM Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said only two sentences are needed to bedevil relations with India but Pakistan does not want the situation to worsen further.

“ We are the torch bearer of peace and we want normal ties with India. We can say a lot if we want but we don’t want to deteriorate the situation”, he said this while talking to Indian media here in New York.

Shah Mehmood also met his Qatari counterpart. The foreign minister of Qatar extended offer for providing one lac jobs to Pakistanis on this occasion.

Swiss foreign minister also met with Shah Mehmood Qureshi and during the meeting, stress was placed on boosting bilateral trade and investment.

Qureshi also met with his Japanese counterpart. He also participated in a debate entitled “Action for peace keeping” at UN in New York.

Qureshi said in his address that over 2 lac Pakistani soldiers have rendered services in the Peacekeeping mission.

Earlier Qureshi met US president Donald Trump during his reception. Foreign minister described Trump attitude very positive.

Both Pakistan and the United States have agreed to rebuild their bilateral relations for the benefit of the two countries.

Talking to media after the meeting, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that during the interaction he asked President Trump to rebuild the bilateral relations between Islamabad and Washington to which he responded positively.

The formal talks between Qureshi and US secretary of state Mike Pompeo is scheduled to take place officially on October 2 and both the leaders will hold talks at length on bilateral issues.
