"The Taliban are coming" is a popular point of conversation among the chattering classes and it seems all that talking is making some people very worried about the family silver. Word has it that many have called in professionals packers to crate their heirlooms and artwork. Queries about bank lockers in London and other metros are growing. It seems that many families taking foreign holiday this year will be carrying a lot of excess baggage. * * * * * * * * * A trip to Dubai can become rather complicated when you are the governor of a province. We hear that one such governor was planning one but the CJ refused to sit in, in his absence. Then the Judiciary made it official that hitherto none of its members would officiate as acting governors. The "Speaker Option" being unreliable, the governor could have chosen an MNA to keep the seat warm. But that could whip up controversy to feed the hungry media. So may as well put the trip to Dubai on hold. * * * * * * * * * It is amazing that a national process can be reflected in a simple process to elect the BOG of a school. Last week the Lahore American School held a hotly contested election and the two groups pitched against each other were none other than affiliates of PML(Q)'s Shujaat and Hamayun Akhtar factions. One candidate happened to be Hamayun's sister-in-law and the other the sister of Chaudhry Shujaat. Well Hamayun's candidate lost which could be a sign of things to come. After all the Shujaat PML(Q) has been known to rise from the ashes in the past.
