Govt asked to submit reply within 3 weeks

RAWALPINDI - Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Monday issued notices to the Government in a case challenging the reappointment of the Secretary Establishment Division. LHC judge, Justice Ijaz Ahmed issued the notices and directed the respondents to file the reply within three weeks in this regard. The petitioner DIG Zafar Abbas Lak moved the court through his lawyer Waqar-ul-Mohsin Lak and challenged re-employment of Secretary Establishment Division (ED) Ismail Qureshi on contract basis. In the petition, Zafar Abbas made Ismail Qureshi Secretary (ED) and Government of Pakistan as respondents and maintained that an officer of grade 22 could not be re-appointed on contract under Section 14 of Civil Service Act 1973 The counsel Waqar-ul-Mohsin contended that the respondent was not appointed by any lawful authority. In his pray, he stated that Ismail Qureshi might kindly be directed to show that under what authority of law, he was holding the post of Secretary Establishment. He further prayed that the Government might kindly be directed to stop Ismail Qureshi from functioning as Secretary Establishment Division by removing him from the post. He prayed the court that the notification of Ismail Qureshis re-employment being null and void might kindly be cancelled.
