PESHAWAR Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Owais Ahmed Ghani Monday said, we have achieved significant successes against militancy in FATA and now the govt was focusing on economic revival in the tribal areas. This he said while addressing of a group of 24 participants of 7th Senior Management Course of National Management College Lahore at Governor House here. Faculty members of the National management College Lahore besides Additional Chief Secretary FATA Habibullah Khan and Secretary to Governor Sikandar Qayum were also present. The Governor said that writ of the government had been re-established and the system placed on track with law and order situation gradually improving. Our major focus is now on economic development and social transformation to make the tribal people feel a real change in their socio-economic condition, he added. The Governor responded to various questions from the participants on the situation in FATA. To a question the governor said that the govt was equally looking at the prospects of industrialisation in FATA. We are considering different measures in this regard as industrialisation in FATA would directly benefit the tribal people in terms of investment as well as job opportunities and skill development. The Governor while responding to another question said that a plan to establish Urban Centres in FATA was about to be implemented that will help the tribal people get multi-faceted facilities in almost all social sectors which the people of urban areas were enjoying. Earlier Additional Chief Secretary gave a detailed presentation to the participants on FATA. He updated the group on the geo-strategic importance, system of governance, the problem of militancy, its background and causes and the govt strategy to face the challenges in this regard. He also informed the participants about the development profile of FATA and the fresh govt initiatives for speedy development of tribal areas.
