The recent decision of Pakistan government to close government offices for two days to save electricity is very annoying. The policy shows that this democratic government didnt have any vision for the biggest crisis facing this country at the time of 2008 elections, the power shortages. If this government had not remained idle and taken the steps that were necessary two years ago, many wind turbines and other renewable power projects had been built already by now and we would have had ample electricity. I hope the government would also make some policy to produce electricity rather than just go on doing this tape-bandaging of offering free holidays to people in government offices who in any case do all the work on Saturdays. -MUBASHIR MAHMOOD, Karachi, April 25.
