LAHORE - Leaders of parliamentary party of PML-Q Punjab have submitted a resolution regarding creation of a new province comprising southern parts of the province in the Punjab Assembly Secretariat. Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Ch Zaheerud Din, senior leader of PML-Q Ch Moonis Elahi, Muhammad Yar Hiraj, Mian Muhammad Shafi and Mohsin Leghari submitted the resolution in the provincial assembly secretariat on Monday. They also submitted three more resolutions, while in the first resolution they demanded that keeping in view the population and backwardness of southern Punjab, 40 per cent development funds should be allocated for the stated part of the province from the ADP of Budget 2010-11. In the second resolution they pleaded that funds should be allocated for various districts of the province in the light of NFC formula. The third resolution asked for establishing regional offices of provincial ombudsman, public service commission and civil secretariat at Multan. Ch Zaheer along with PML-Q leaders talking to the media at Opposition Chambers said that the current provincial government was ignoring development in southern Punjab and the provincial government instead of converting selected areas of Punjab into 'Paris should focus on development of the entire population of the province. PML-Q leaders said that a new province comprising southern parts of the Punjab was the only solution to end the sense of deprivation of the people of these areas, as the PML-N led provincial government pushed the people of southern Punjab to a point of no return. Criticizing the provincial government over the issue of water shortage for cotton crop in southern Punjab, they said that the provincial government always committed criminal negligence in connection with protection of the rights of the farmers of Punjab especially of southern Punjab.
