ISLAMABAD (NNI) - A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Monday dismissed petitions challenging the graduation degrees of PML-N lawmakers. The bench comprising Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Mahmood Akhtar Shahid Siddiqui and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar dismissed two separate petitions challenging the degrees of PML-N MNA Rasheed Akbar Nawani from NA-74 (Bhakkar-II) and MPA Saeed Akbar Nawani from PP-49 (Bhakkar-II). Earlier, the court had reserved the judgment. The University of the Punjab filed a report in the court certifying graduation degrees of both the legislatures obtained in 2004. However, the University told the court that the degrees obtained by the PML-N leaders in 2002 were fake. Afzal Khan and Ghazanfar had filed the petitions seeking disqualification of PML-N lawmakers. They claimed that both brothers possessed fake degrees and prayed that they should be deseated.
