ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court will hear the petition against the appointment of Justice (Retd) Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq as newly Attorney General for Pakistan on Tuesday (today). The larger bench of the apex court comprising Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery, Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Tariq Pervaiz will hear the petition that is filed by Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam Ghuman Advocate. The petitioner contended that Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq did not fulfil the requirement under the Article 100 of the Constitution, as he was convicted in a contempt of court, besides taking oath as a judge of the High Court under the PCO. He further mentioned that Anwar resigned as judge of the Lahore High Court in remorse of taking oath under PCO. He prayed that court should set aside the notification for the appointment of Anwar as Attorney General for Pakistan.
