DHL ranks leader in global logistic sector

This was stated by DHL South Asia Pacific CFO Melvin Chang here on Tuesday. He said that DHL provides a range of value-added services, including in-house customs brokerage, integrated domestic warehousing, inventory management and distribution solutions for greater cost and delivery efficiency. Melvin Chang said, We are confident, business in Pakistan will continue to grow driven especially by imports and exports of apparel, footwear, chemicals and life sciences. In terms of Pakistan market and customers, we provide end to end supply chain solutions to SMEs and MNCs. Our first-rate service helps them to reach every corner of the world at competitive price. He further said that DHL plans to expand operations in Pakistan and by investing $9 million in warehouses, its tracking fleet and train human resources. You have 176,000 km of paved street which even India and African country dont have. The size of investment is not much, but it shows the confidence of DHL in Pakistan. We are also training fresh graduates through our Management Trainee Programme. While answering the question what is DHLs future plan for Pakistan, he said actually, we are committed in using our core strengths in such a way that local communities and societies can get maximum benefit out of it. We want DHL to be the employer of choice and provider of choice in Pakistan. We are also working for the protection of the environment which another key part of our cooperate strategy. Our Project Services staff has successfully completed complex moves to remote inland points for a vast array of companies, including those involved in mining, oil, power plants, construction, engineering and other industries. Our aim is to build long-term partnerships and work closely with our customers often shoulder to shoulder with their management teams. He said that government of Pakistan is DHLs key customer. They are providing all required support to facilitate our business and we find them very cooperative. In other words we have very good business relationship with the government. He revealed that being the CFO of South Asia Pacific, DHL Global Forwarding, my scope of work includes 5 countries and in excess of 200 finance employees under my care, he concluded.
