LAHORE A police constable and an alleged robber sustained bullet injuries during a crossfire in the Muslim Town area, police claimed on Tuesday. Police investigators said the Mobile Squad officials, including Ateeq, Munir and Manzoor, were on routine patrol and when they signaled two motorcyclists to stop, they opened fire on them, triggering the armed encounter. Constable Munir and one of the robbers sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital. However, the second bandit managed to escape from the scene. The police are investigating. Meanwhile, four people were rushed to local hospitals after sustaining injuries from stray bullets in as many incidents in different parts of the City, hospital sources said on Tuesday. The injured were being provided medical treatment and doctors declared they were out of danger. According to the police sources, Muhammad Munir sustained a stray bullet in Wahdat Colony, Muhammad Azam in DHA, Muhammad Jameel near Expo Center Johar Town and Muhammad Ramzan in Faisal Town. The police are investigating the cases separately. Two crushed to death: Two persons including a 45-year-old beggar woman were crushed to death while another man died mysteriously in various localities of the City on Tuesday. As per details, the woman, yet to be identified, was sleeping on the footpath near Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk, in Hanjerwal police area, when a speeding car turned turtle and fell over her. The driver managed to flee from the scene. The injured woman was shifted to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. A 15-year-old student, namely Mohammad Azeem, son of Boota, a resident of Jindran Village, in Burki area, was crushed under the wheels of a tractor-trolley. The deceased and his class-fellows were going to the school while holding the rods of trolley. Suddenly his grip on the rod loosened and he fell under the vehicle, they added. The dead-body was handed over to the bereaved family after police completed necessary medico-legal formalities. In another incident, a 45-year-old man, yet to identified, died under mysterious circumstances in Bhati Gate police area.
