MOSCOW (AFP) - Japan's Takahiko Kozuka won the men's qualifying round at the world figure skating championships on Monday. Kozuka finished almost 30 points ahead of Sweden's Alexander Majorov with Michal Brezina of the Czech Republic placing third in the competition relocated to Moscow after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The top 12 in qualifying advance to the short programme where they will be joined by the 18 direct entries including defending men's champion Daisuke Takahashi of Japan. Qualifying for ice dance and the women's events take place today. Kozuka scored 165.00 points for his programme to Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1. "Even though this is the qualifying round it is another competition. So I felt nervous. But I felt very comfortable to skate my whole long program. It was a good experience before the final," said Nagoya.
