ISLAMABAD - Pakistan bowling once again let the West Indian batsmen off the hook. Wahab Riaz, once again, failed to make his mark, like the previous match, gave away too many extra runs. Junaid Khan who was playing only his second One-day International bowled exceptionally well as an attacking bowler and caused too much trouble to West Indian batsmen and never allowed any batsmen to play freely against him. Pakistan's bowling was without their main weapon Umar Gul and the bowlers are letting the team down. Although Pakistan had once again managed to restrict the opposition to 220 runs thanks to the West Indian batsmen, they thrown away their wickets by playing casual and untimely strokes. Saeed Ajmal is sharing the lime burden of Pakistan bowling and he has rediscovered his form and bowling with comfort and rhythm. He has not allowed any batsman to settle down and create much difficulties to the batsmen. Hammad Azam is struggling to make impact. M Hafeez, once again, bowled exceptionally well as the second new ball bowler. He not only restricted the batsmen but also took two crucial wickets. In the absence of spearhead Umar Gul Pakistan bowling is struggling and the bowlers are struggling to get early breakthroughs. Simmons has somehow cover the absence of Chris Gayle and is playing with authority and control. Bishoo is proving to be the nemeses of Pakistani batsmen as he once again provided the much needed breakthrough to his team by claiming the wicket of M Hafeez. Hafeez can't perform consistently; whenever it looks he is going to make a big score, just manages to get himself out by playing loose shot. Ahmed Shahzad is a lucky guy as he was given too many chances by the team management, which he has yet to take advantage of. He has to change his technique and must show patience to stay at the crease, which is required as a specialist opening batsmen. Ahmed Shahzad and Asad Shafiq, it seems were playing Test match. At one stage the required run rate climbed to almost 6 runs a over. Afridi must realise he has to change the batting order and send someone up the order who can hit big shots to ease the pressure of ever-mounting run rate. Ahmad Shahzad consumed 94 deliveries for his half century. Pakistan's second fifty comes in 91 balls was without a boundary. When Shahzad was playing defensively Afridi should have send Umar Akmal to score runs quickly instead of Asad Shafiq at No 3. This is not the way of chasing a target which by no means was a difficult one. The West Indian bowlers were just bowling according to plan on line and length. As Asad finally broke the shatters and began to play freely, Ahmad Shahzad ran him out needlessly the run was never there. Instead of sending Umar Akmal or promoting himself in the batting order Afridi sent Misbah to bat at No. 4. Misbah as all know is a slow starter and consumes too many deliveries to score. Ahmad Shahzad scored a centaury; his second in One-day International and first against West Indies. Pakistan managed to earn victory in a hard way, which they could have achieved with several balls before had Afridi used his brain according to the situation and sent right man at the right time to ease the pressure. Ahmad Shahzad needlessly gifted his wicket to Bishoo while trying to play over ambitious stroke. The run rate climbed to six runs for the first time during the Pakistan innings and visitors once again fail to take advantage from the batsmen power play. The team must realise when to take this power play. Bishoo managed to take three wickets; in reality all of his wickets were gifted by the batsmen themselves. Umar Akmal made the difference as soon as he arrived at the crease the runs began to flow freely. Misbah finally come out of his shell and hit two consecutive boundaries of the bowling of Roach. Pakistan lacked depth in their batting and had the wickets fell early it would be far difficult for the players to achieve this modest target. Pakistan are badly in need of an all rounder and none is better than Abdul Razzaq, who can win match single-handedly on his day. Pakistan can beat a team like West Indies with these players but they can't even think of defeating other opponents with this bunch of players.
