LAHORE The government should not forget Indian mentality before sitting on the negotiation table for increasing the bilateral trade between the two countries as history has proven that India cant be trusted. It is hard to even think about giving Most Favourite Nation (MFN) status to India as Indians still have grudge against Pakistan and are continuing to hatch conspiracies against Pakistan. If there is no other choice than giving India MFN status then Indian government should be asked to accept Pakistans hegemony and integrity while Indian extremists like Bal Thakeray should announce this publicly. This was the upshot of speeches delivered at Aiwan-e-Waqt Forum on the subject Trade negotiation between Pak-Indian Secretaries and its effects on Pakistan at Nawa-i-Waqt Building on Tuesday. Those who spoke on the occasion included famous economist Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed, Agri Forum Pakistan Chairman Ibrahim Mughal, PPP Finance Secretary Aurangzeb Burki and PTI Central Vice-President Ejaz Chaudhry. Khawaja Amjad Saeed said that he usually goes to over 26 cities of India for delivering lectures and knows very well the mentality of Hindus. Muslims had ruled them for over 700 years that was why they disintegrated Pakistan for fulfilling their coveted wishes. Prof Khawaja Amjad said that Indian strategy is to destroy Pakistan economically, especially Pakistans agriculture sector. That was why, he said, India is building dams on Pakistans water. He recalled that when Pakistan won world hockey title on Indian soil, former Indian PM Indra Gandhi left the stadium before the hoisting of Pakistans flag. He said when Indians have such grudge against Pakistan, how it is possible that India be given MFN status adding that still Indian agencies have tight surveillance on visiting Pakistanis. He suggested that though it is time of regional alliances but it would be better for us to use Saarc platform for this purpose and try to form Saarc economic union rather than awarding MFN to India only. He said that India just wanted to suppress its neighbour countries after becoming regional power. Mohammad Ibrahim Mughal said that India wants to ruin Pakistan through water theft. It would be a great sin if India is given MFN status in the prevailing circumstances. He alleged that people like the Federal Trade Secretary are fulfilling the wishes of Indians. He claimed that cost of doing agriculture in Pakistan is four times higher than India. If this cost becomes equal in both countries, India could be awarded with MFN status. He was of the view that our sugar industry of Rs280 billion and other sectors including fertilizer are likely to be affected if India is goven MFN status. Aurangzeb Burki said MFN status is nothing but a delusion as America has awarded this status to lot of countries. He said that we cannot trust India as India has always tried to harm Pakistan. He confessed that India progressed more than Pakistan as Nehrus policies proved to be bettered than Ayub Khans. Ejaz Chaudhry said that as Pakistan has strategic issues with India, so it is hard to award MFN status to India. He said that India wanted to access the Central Asian states after getting MFN status from Pakiatan.
