LAHORE About the possibility of a national government, PML-Q leader Faisal Saleh Hayat observed the PML-Q could reach a final decision if the government defined broad parameters of such a set-up. However, he called for his party 'meaningful role, beyond a few ministries, as a pre-condition to joining national government. In an exclusive chat with The Nation on Tuesday, Faisal Saleh Hayat, PML-Qs parliamentary leader in the National Assembly, said, The ruling partys contacts with the PML-Q and other political forces at the same time are a strong indicator of possible formation of a national government. He, however, said the govt should come up with a broad-based national agenda with the consensus of all the political forces to overcome the crises facing the country if it really believed in ending the problems through a national govt. Formation of a national set-up could help dilute political polarisation in order to deal with the issues facing the country, provided achieving political goals was not PPPs sole motive behind such an initiative, he said, in an allusion to the lack of trust between the two parties. He said that PML-Q chief Ch Shujaat Hussain was the first political leader who proposed setting up a national government, as the PPP lacks vision and experts to handle the serious issues of economy and foreign policy. Commenting on the PPP offer to PML-Q, he said he didnt see any development in this regard in the near future. Faisal said, Some people are focussing only on one part of PPPs offer to PML-Q, which is ministries, however PPP has offered them a long-term partnership that includes seat adjustment.
