Charge sheet against Dr Afridi for ‘killing’ kid

PESHAWAR - The political administration of Khyber Agency on Saturday prepared a charge sheet against Dr Shakeel Afridi for ‘killing’ a child while illegally operating upon him and sent it to the Assistant Political Agent Bara.
According to local sources, Dr Shakeel Afiridi was accused of conducting an illegal surgery of a child namely Salman, resident of Bara, Khyber Agency in his clinic which he was not authorised, which resulted in death of the kid.
Naseeba Gul, who was mother of Salman, registered a complaint one year ago with the political administration that Dr Shakeel Afridi carried out an illegal surgery of his son, which caused his death. She alleged that Dr Afirid was not qualified for conducting surgeries because he was not a surgical specialist.
The surgery was conducted in 2007 in the private clinic of Dr Shakeel situated in Bara. The officials said that they sought opinion of the agency surgeon about the professional qualification of Dr Shakeel. The agency surgeon told the administration that Dr Shakeel was a general cadre doctor and was not authorized to conduct any surgery.
It was also learnt that a brother of Salman Afridi had raised the issue during a press briefing after his request for registering a case against Dr Shakeel was not entertained by the administration when the incident took place.
Later the political administration registered a case against the accused under sections 302 and 419 of Pakistan Penal Code and Section 11 of Frontier Crimes Regulation. A warrant of the case was sent to the Superintendent of Peshawar prison.
In this connection a charge sheet has been prepared by the political administration of Khyber Agency and has been sent to APA Tehsil Bara for taking necessary action.
Dr Shakeel Afridi is become famous for helping the CIA to track down Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad during fake polio vaccination campaign. He was taken into custody in May 2011.
