LAHORE - Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique on Monday said that TEVTA was playing its vital role in the implementation of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of technical education.
He was addressing a meeting here at TEVTA Secretariat after being recovered from COVID-19, says a spokesperson.
Ali Salman Siddique said that the number of enrolled students had been increased from 90,000 to 238,000, adding that it was also ensured that TEVTA students would get job opportunities successfully. He said that several important steps were taken as per the vision 2023 which would provide market-oriented education to students, industry-academia linkages were also being focused and in this regard independent sector councils were being set up.
He added that CM Punjab’s Hunarmand Nojawan Programme was successfully providing vocational training to 100,000 students per year with an amount of Rs 1.5 billion. He said that TEVTA institutes were also being upgraded as per international standards, whereas job placement centres were also being updated as per the latest trends. He mentioned that keeping in view the COVID-19 situation, 50,000 students were also being trained online in artificial intelligence and other fields, adding that for supporting entrepreneurship culture, provision of interest-free loans was another valuable step of TEVTA. Talking about steps he took for the welfare of employees, Ali Salman said that none of the targets could be achieved without facilitating employees; therefore around 700 employees were promoted since “I took charge in 2019 and many of them were waiting for their promotions since 2004”.
“Another remarkable step of TEVTA was MoU signed with Overseas Employment Corporation which would help TEVTA students in availing overseas job opportunities”, Ali Salman added.
The chairperson also inaugurated the renovation
work at Jamia Mosque of TEVTA Secretariat. Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Rai Manzoor Nasir was also present on the occasion.
