ISLAMABAD (APP) - Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Syed Naveed Qamar Wednesday emphasized the need for enhancing LPG availability in the country in view of approaching winter season and to meet the growing demand. Chairing a meeting with major Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) producers and marketers here, the Minister after detailed deliberations, assured the LPG producers and marketers that while consistent long-term adherence to the policy will be ensured, the LPG marketing companies will be encouraged and facilitated to enhance LPG imports instead of obligating them to import and market the product. He said the issue of GST waiver over imported LPG will be discussed with FBR and the OGRA related issues, as identified by the participants, will be thrashed out in order to provide a level playing field to all stakeholders. The Minister also asked the participants to suggest proposals to enhance the LPG supplies in the country on medium and long-term basis to develop a long-term policy frame-work. Meanwhile, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Syed Naveed Qamar Wednesday said the government welcomed investors in the country and looked forward to closer cooperation with key stakeholders of Oil and Gas Exploration and Production (E&P) sector. The Minister said this while talking to Janos Feher, Managing Director/CEO of MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co, who called on him here. He discussed various steps envisaged in the policy for promoting direct foreign investment in the country. The Minister was apprised of the companys operations in the country in oil and gas exploration and production sector of Pakistan and its other associated social welfare activities. Janos Feher is also elected Chairman, Pakistan Petroleum Exploration & Production Companies Association (PPEPCA) for the year 2008-2009. Auto-LPG stations at PSO retail outlets soon Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Syed Naveed Qamar Wednesday witnessed a ceremony held here to ink MoU to set-up Auto-LPG stations at PSO retail outlets in the country. Managing Director, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Director Associated Group signed the contract on behalf of their respective organizations.
