NAB takes notice of corruption at Education Dept

KARACHI - National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sindh, has taken a notice of a primary school teacher who is holding simultaneously two separate government offices. Rukhsana Siyal is serving at Government Boys Secondary School Bhens Colony, as primary teacher while she is also doing job at the same time at the Education Department of Steel Mill also, a source in the NAB told The Nation on Wednesday. On the other hand, the education department of the City District Government Karachi has failed to take any action against the criminal act of the primary teacher. An enquiry committee, comprising DO Semis and Planning Hamid Kareem and Head Master Saleem Awan, has failed to produce enquiry report. Detection of another case of corruption and dishonesty at the education department of the City District Government Karachi has once again exposed the height of corruption in the provincial and district departments of education. The source said, Abdul Hafeez Siddiqui, an official of the NAB, has requested EDO Education through an official letter to provide information about Rukhsana Siyal under the Section 27 of National Accountability Ordinance 1999. The bureau asked the EDO to provide appointment letter of Rukhsana Siyal who was appointed as a primary school teacher in the year 1984 and nowadays posted at Government Boys Secondary School Bhens Colony. The NAB also requires a copy of office order No EDOE/ESTT/CDGK/ (588-91)/2006 regarding leave allowed to the said lady along her joining report after availing leave. A source in the education department of the city government said that the said lady teacher had joined the education department of Steel Mill in 1988 as primary teacher; during this job she also got the residence facility from the said department. The source said, The lady teacher is well-connected in the education department of the City District Government Karachi that is why the enquiry committee is not interested so much to furnish the enquiry report to the authority concerned. EDO Education Ibrahim Kumbher seems helpless to take any legal action against offender of the governments service laws.
