Our Staff reporter TOBA TEK SINGH - The inaugural ceremony of Chief Minister Kitchen Gardening programme was held here on Friday at district council hall which was presided by PML-N MNA Haji Junaid Anwar Chaudhry. On the occasion, DCO Javed Iqbal informed the participants that the growing of vegetables at domestic level was vital for human health. He added that it was a big source of carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals which helps in nourishing the human body. He further stated that per capita use of vegetable for balance diet is 350 gram but our consumption was limited to just 150 gram daily. He also emphasized the agriculture department staff to create maximum awareness among the urban citizens for adoption of kitchen gardening programme. More than 2000 seed kits of summer vegetable were distributed among citizens for sowing in their lawns and gardens. EDO Agriculture Dr Mian Shafiq Muhammad, Deputy District Officer Khalid Mahmood and other officials were also present on the occasion.
