Murder report delayed

NAUDERO (Agencies) - The Central Executive Committee (CEC) on Sunday endorsed a resolution to promote as well as pursue policy of reconciliation with a renewed spirit for further strengthening democratic process in the country. The meeting, which was held at President House here on the eve of death anniversary of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, was chaired by partys Co-Chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari. Addressing the meeting, Zardari reiterated partys resolve to take forward mission of late BB and continue the policy of reconciliation in line with her vision and lesson for strengthening democracy in the country. The CEC members paid rich tributes to the visionary leadership of Benazir and offered fateha for the departed soul of their late leader. He maintained that it was due to PPPs policy of reconciliation that the coalition governments were in place in the centre as well as in provinces. Party president of four provinces as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir, federal ministers, provincial ministers and members of the CEC participated in the meeting. Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also attended the meeting. Later briefing newsmen after the CEC meeting, Federal Law and Justice Minister Babar Awan said the meeting reposed full confidence in the leadership of partys Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Zardari. He said the President vowed to take all the coalition partners along and asked the partymen to avoid giving provocative statements. He said the President would make changes in the Federal cabinet in the next year, adding that these changes would be made keeping in view the progress of ministers. The PPP was ready for local bodies elections next year, he added. To a question, the Minister said JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was a pro-democracy leader and had always extended his support on the issues of national importance, adding that during the meeting President Zardari expressed respect for Maulana Fazl. The Minister said the investigation report of BBs assassination had been delayed again because of absence of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, adding that it, adding that it would be presented in the next meeting of the CEC when the PPP Chairman would also be present. He said the PPP would respect the mandate of each and every party whether part of the coalition or not. To another question regarding reservations of the MQM, Babar said the MQM had left the matter up to the President, who is a fatherly figure for all. Babar Awan said the President would announce the date of next CEC meeting after holding consultations with the party leaders. Earlier addressing a ceremony to launch Benazir Bhutto Mobile Phone Banking under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), President Asif Zardari pledged to come up to the expectations of people and set up industrial estates in various parts of the country to create thousands of new jobs. Besides Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, BISP Chairperson Farzana Raja, Federal Ministers Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Syed Naveed Qamar, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, a large number of party workers, supporters and women also attended the ceremony. The President said PPP took politics as worship and it had been following the vision and thoughts of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and late Benazir Bhutto. The President said PPPs slogan of roti, kapra and makan was for all times as founder of party Bhutto knew about the needs of a growing population in future. He said the PPP government was not only fighting non-state actors involved in terrorism but also working against poverty for the sake of future generations. The President pushed a button for computerised balloting for 15, 16 and 17 draws of Waseela-e-Haq. He also distributed cheques among 35 beneficiaries of BISP, who were selected to get benefits from Waseela-e-Haq Scheme. The provinces, the President said, have right over their resources which shall be provided to them. Sindh has right over its natural gas, Punjab has right over its gas reserves and Balochistan has right over the natural gas there, the President said. In a special interview with DG Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi, telecast by PTV on Sunday night, President Zardari said the PPP did not believe in personal revenge and was taking revenge of the assassination of Benazir by changing the system. The President said he felt the presence of Benazir at every moment. He said the PPP government was carrying forward the mission and vision of their great leaders Bhutto and Benazir for a better Pakistan. Nazir Siyal & Muhammad Irtaza from Larkana, Garhi Khuda Bux and Multan add: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday dispelled the rumours of any in-house change, saying that the incumbent Government was pursuing the policy of reconciliation and following in the footsteps of Benazir Bhutto. Speaking on the eve of 3rd death anniversary Benazir, after visiting the ancestral graveyard of Bhutto family, the PM paid rich tributes to Benazir. He said the chiefs of MQM and JUI-F, Altaf Hussain and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, were supporting the present Government in the national interest. He said the country was facing numerous challenges including the war on terror and law and order situation. American drone attacks serve no ones purpose rather theyre counterproductive and multiplying our problems. Weve asked the US to give drone technology to us so that we can use it according to our needs, he said. He said the present Government was not going to make any amendment in the Blasphemy Law, saying all the amendments would be made by the Parliament with the consensus of all religious and political representatives. He said martyrdom of Benazir was a tragedy not only for Pakistan but for the whole world. Earlier, Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani accompanied by Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah, Federal ministers Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Manzoor Wattoo, Provincial Minister of Punjab Raja Riaz, MNAs, MPAs and PPP leaders visited the grave of martyrs at Garhi Khuda Bux. Meanwhile, The 3rd death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto will be observed today (Monday) across the country with the pledge to strengthen democratic institutions in line with her vision for which she had sacrificed her life. A special ceremony will be held at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, where Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto embraced martyrdom. The Peoples Youth Organisation Rawalpindi will organise a rally from Chandni Chowk to Liaquat Bagh. In Larkana, several reception camps have been established while all the hotels and other private accommodations have also been booked for the occasion. President Asif Ali Zardari and all the provincial presidents of PPP and central leaders of the party will also address the gathering here at the President House Naudero on Monday afternoon. Commenting on the arrest of Shahzain Bugti and situation of Balochistan, Gilani said Baloch were loyal to country and their ancestors played a key role in creation of Pakistan. On extradition of former president Pervez Musharraf in Benazir Bhutto murder case, he said the decision to bring or not to bring him to the country through Interpol was to be made by the court.
