Dr. Fehmida Mirza said that Shaheed Mohtarma had a towering and multi-dimensional personality and was bacon of light for the downtrodden, oppressed and marginalized segments of the society. She said that BB had the courage to challenge the worst dictatorship of the times when compared with other contemporary politicians. She had to pass through the whirlpool of vendetta by a repressive regime in shape of brutal assassination of her father Qaid-e-Awam Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the murders of her tow brothers, the hardships of her mother, her own and her husbands imprisonments, physical and mental torture, nevertheless, she bravely faced whatever came in her way, continued to challenge the dictatorships and remained steadfast in her commitment to the people and democracy. The speaker said that today as the nation finds itself encircled by challenges, threats and pressures, never witnessed ever before, and while they all put in our respective efforts to steer the country out of the present quagmire, they need Mohtarma Benazir now more than ever before.
