LAHORE (APP) - The unusual load-shedding is temporary as thermal generation has partially affected from Kot Addu Power Company ( KAPCO) Kot Addu and AES PAK GEN near Muzaffargarh due to shortage in delivery of furnace oil by the PSO. Clarifying reports appearing in a section of media regarding unusual load-shedding in the country, a spokesman of the Ministry of Water and Power said here Sunday that situation would soon be improved. He said that power generation from Jamshoro Power House was affected due to contaminated water received from Manchar Lake for cooling, adding, the cumulative impact on generation from the closure of these power plants is estimated to be around 1500MW, which is likely to be restored soon. He said, with restoration of these power plants the power shortfall would be curtailed to 1500MW against the 4500MW gap during the corresponding period last year. The spokesman also regretted the inconvenience caused to the consumers and said the present load-shedding is primarily due to loss of 4000MW in hydel generation following annual closure of canals in the country. He, however, assured that government is making all-out efforts to ensure minimum load-shedding so that peoples routine life and economic activity is least affected.
