14 Afghan students arrested



SIALKOT - The Sialkot police on Sunday night raided a religious seminary in Naikapura here and arrested 14 Afghan students illegally staying and studying there for the last several years.
Sialkot SP (Investigation) Muneef Qureshi told newsmen that the students had no official travelling documents and they had been living there illegally since long and they had been also getting religious education at the Madrassa.
Later the police produced them before a local court, amid tight security. The court gave these children under the custody of the Child Protection Bureau Sialkot till the further order.
OUTAGES PROTESTED: The local journalist staged a protest demonstration at district courts of Sialkot against daily 16-18 hours loadshedding of electricity and gas in Sialkot.
The journalists were carrying banners and placards and chanting anti-government slogans. They also staged a sit-in there. Meanwhile, PML-N MPA Ikhlaq Ahmed joined this protest and strongly criticised the PPP government and alleged that the federal government was irritating the people of Punjab through loadshedding of power and gas.
