LAHORE (Agencies) - Former Pakistan captain, Aamer Sohail, has backed the interim coach, Mohsin Hasan Khan to continue as coach of the Pakistan cricket team in the long run and said that the former opening batsman has so far done a brilliant job with the Green Shirts.

Mohsin was appointed as the interim coach of the Pakistan team earlier this year after the resignation of Waqar Younis. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has failed so far to find a permanent coach but there are speculations that the former Australian cricketer, Dave Whatmore, is going to be the next Pakistani mentor.

The Green Shirts have been doing very well since the last one year and under the guidance of Mohsin, Pakistan has beaten Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in recent series. Several other former cricketers have also opined that if somebody is doing a good job, then they should be allowed to continue.

While speaking to Pakpassion, the former Pakistani opening batsman stated that the batting line-up of the Green Shirts was struggling before Mohsin took over and the signs are there to prove that there has been a lot of improvement in the Pakistan team. He further expressed that the boys seem to be very comfortable with Mohsin.

Aamer said, “When Mohsin Khan was appointed as coach of the Pakistan team, the Pakistani batting was struggling. There was a lot of talk about the batsmen struggling. Now if you look at it, there has been some stability and the batsmen have responded to Mohsin. “

The former left-handed batsman further added that the whole team is gelling well under Mohsin Khan and the whole cricketing world is appreciating the recent performances of the Green Shirts. Aamer is clueless as to why the PCB would want to change a coach who is producing good results.

“The bowlers have also done a good job. Everything is going fine and he's the option as coach and he's done a good job. If Mohsin Khan is doing a good job and the players are responding to him, then why on earth do you want to look any further than Mohsin?” he added.
