KHARIAN CANTT - Like other parts of the country, the Christian community celebrated the holy festival of Christmas with religious zeal and enthusiasm here the other day.

The day started with special prayers at Churches. Christmas trees were decorated with lights and colourful balls in Christian colonies, outside shopping malls and alongside the important roads. The Christian community renewed their commitments to follow the teachings of their religion in letter and spirit.

Special ceremonies were held in main churches including FGA Church situated in Mohallah Dhoop Sari, and Catholic and Protestant Churches situated in Mohallah Karimpura where prayers for peace and stability in the country were offered. Many Christians traditionally celebrated a midnight mass at midnight on Christmas Eve, marking the beginning of Christmas Day. They also greeted each other and also distributed cakes among their relatives and Muslim neighbourers.

The district govt had made comprehensive security arrangements on the eve of Christmas and special deployment of police was ensured at Churches and public places. Security duty at the public places, including parks, was made more effective.

while sub-divisional police officers and station house officers remained on patrolling in their respective areas.
