LAHORE – Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has said that Aashiyana housing project is a significant step to transform the country in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal. He said for the first time in the history of the country residential facilities better than the housing societies of the rich have been provided to the families of martyrs, widows, workers and common man in these schemes. He said that he will continue to provide rights to the people at their doorstep till his last breath and spare no effort to bring Pakistan in line with the vision of Quaid and Iqbal.

The CM said while addressing a function held to give keys of the houses to the lucky families in Aashiyana housing scheme, Saroba Attari, here on Monday. Provincial Minister Iqbal Channar, MNAs, MPAs, Vice Chancellors of Universities, Vice Chairman Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, former Chief Justice Lahore High Court, Commissioner Lahore and a large number of people were present on the occasion.

The CM said that PML(N) has provided shelter to the poor and low-income people through Aashiyana housing project, and houses equipped with most modern facilities have been given to common citizens at very reasonable rate. He said that though the elite have been enjoying all facilities and privileges during the last 64 years but the poor and the common man have remained deprived of even basic amenities. He said that present government has provided shelter to workers, labourers and common Pakistanis which will bring peace to the souls of Quaid-e-Azam and others who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan. He said that it is for the first time in the country’s history that such hapless and under privileged persons have been given houses who could not even imagine to have their own house. He said that such amenities have been provided in Aashiyana housing scheme as were considered to be the hallmark of the residential colonies of senior government officers and the rich. He said that those families are being inhabited in Aashiyana housing schemes which have given their sweat and blood to the country. He said that Aashiyana housing schemes have also been started in other cities of the province on the pattern of Lahore to provide shelter to thousands of shelterless people. He said that some people are making claims of providing justice to the people whereas PML(N) has already provided justice to the Pakistan of Quaid by providing houses to the poor and Aashiyana housing schemes have realized the dream of Quaid and Iqbal. He said that he will continue to serve the masses and make Pakistan a strong and prosperous country.

Chairman Punjab Land Development Company, Sheikh Alauddin while addressing the function said that the dream of Punjab CM to provide houses to the shelterless has come true. He said that work is in progress on Aashiyana housing schemes in various cities of Punjab. He said that sports, education, health and other basic amenities are being provided in these colonies. He said that more land has been acquired in Saroba Attari, on which another 3000 houses will be constructed.

 Meanwhile, Chief Minister  Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of the central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Shah Farid-ul-Haq.

In a condolence message, the Chief Minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
