AHMEDPUR EAST - The masses do not trust in the rulers’ tall claims, the Bahawalpur National Awami Party chief told Prime Minister Gilani’s brother when the latter said that the PM was not against the restoration of former Bahawalpur province and creation of Seraiki province.

Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi was talking to Prime minister’s elder brother Syed Mujtaba Gilani, PPP MNA Arif Aziz Sheikh, MPAs Colonel (r) Naveed Sajid from Liaquatpur, Shah Rukh Malik from Samasatta-Khanqah Sharif and PTI leader and former MPA Syed Sajjad Hussein Bukhari from Hasilpur at his residence Sadiq Garh Palace where BNAP Secretary General Mian Rafatur Rehman Rehmani and Secretary Finance Mian Ilyas Ayaz were also present.

The BNAP chief said that his party was ready to forge an alliance with any mainstream political party which would unconditionally support the demand of restoration of former Bahawalpur. Nawab Abbasi said that he was in contact with national and regional political leaders but his party would not merge in any party which was got registered with the Election Commission to safeguard the rights of 12.5 million people of Bahawalpur. He told the visitors that BNAP would field its candidates in the forthcoming general elections and tickets would be awarded with the party workers’ consultation and supporters.  Nawab announced to start BNAP membership campaign during the current week and informed that the BNAP Central Secretariat had been set up in Mubarak Mahal inside the palace. He stated that youth were being enrolled in the party as they would play key role in Bahawalpur province movement.

He stated that the BNAP would not compromise on Bahawalpur province issue as it is last mission of his life. He criticised all successive government for neglecting the former Bahawalpur province and said that a sense of deprivation was increasing day by day. Unemployment, price hike and worsening law and order have made the people’s lives miserable, he observed.  Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi claimed that BNAP was a ray of hope for Bahawapuries and it would come up to the people’s expectations. Earlier, visiting MPAs and PTI leader held seperate meetings with him and discussed the prevailing political situation. Meanwhile Syed Ali Zain Bulhari  son of PTI leader Syed Sajjad Hussein Bukhari joined Bahawapur National Awami Party and was directed to gather maximum youth at the party platform in tehsil Hasilpur.

WOMEN JOURNALISM WORKSHOP: A three-day training workshop on women journalism has started in Mubarakpur Town.

It is being organised by the Rural Media Network Pakistan in collaboration with Unesco. Twenty women including civil society activists, NGOs represntatives, students and secondary school teachers would be imparted training on basic skills of journalism including article writing and feature writing. District Information Officer Multan Nasar Hameed, District Information Officer Bahawalpur Noman Masood Khan, Sumera Ansari, Najamunisa Bukhari would deliver lectures in different sessions. Shazia Mazhar was nominated as Coordinator of the workshop. Certificates distribution ceremony will be held on 28th December.

NOTIFICATION: The Punjab Education Department has appointed Professor Ghulam Akbar Sheikh as Principal and Professor Khawaja Noorullah as Vice Principal of Government SA College Dera Nawab Sahib. A notification has been issued in this regard. It may be recalled that Professor Ghulam Akbar Sheikh was earlier serving as acting principal after the retirement of Mehmood Khan Khakwani.
