LAHORE - Quetta team held nerves to beat Rawalpindi by 5 runs in the first semi-final of the PCB-Pepsi Cricket Stars Under-16 One-day Tournament here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.

After winning the toss and batting first, Quetta scored 154 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 45 overs. Junaid Khan (56), Sagheer Ahmed Senior (32) and Mukhtar Ahmed (20) made good contributions to their team’s total, From Rawalpindi M Farhan was pick of the bowler who chipped in with 4/16 and Ali Raza 2/36 also bowled well.

In reply Rawalpindi batsmen failed to achieve the target and were restricted to 149 for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs. Haseeb Afzal played a superb knock of 71 but failed to save his team from defeat. Farhan made 21 while Naqi Raza 15 not out were the other notable scorers. For Quetta Mir Saeed Ullah (4/25) and Zainullah (3/15) played vital role in their teams victory.
