R&B legend Etta James has been hospitalised in Riverside, California after suffering breathing problems. The terminally ill singer, who is battling leukaemia, spent Christmas in hospital and her long-time manager Lupe De Leon admits the 73 year old is “in pretty bad shape”.
Members of her family were hoping doctors could revive her from her sedation on Sunday, so they could briefly celebrate Christmas with her in her hospital room.
Last week, a judge set aside $350,000 (GBP218,750) for the At Last singer’s ongoing medical treatment and ruled James’ husband Artis Mills would remain the conservator of her estate following a legal challenge from her son, Donto James.                         –ON
