Pakistan to face India in final today

LAHORE – Pakistan hockey team will take on India in the Asian Champions Trophy 2012 final today (Thursday).
According to information made available here on Wednesday, the greenshirts outclassed Japan 5-2 to keep their hopes alive to enter the final as they were waiting for the outcome of the India-Malaysia match. Pakistan defence again looked weak as Japan took the lead twice in the match. But on both occasions Pakistan bounced back to draw the level. They augmented their efforts in the second half which resulted in three more goals for Pakistan and made the task almost impossible for Malysia to make it to the final.
Malaysia though defeated India 5-3 yet they could not qualify for the final as they were required a victory with six goals margin to set the encounter for the top honours with India, who already had been qualified for the final. So the outcome of second match of the day set another Pakistan-India final like the first edition.  Malaysia will face China today (Thursday) for the bronze and for the fifth/sixth place, Japan will play against Oman.
