LAHORE – The women wing of the PPP Lahore chapter organised a function on Wednesday to remember Safiq Goga, one of the personal security guards of Benazir Bhutto who lost his life in the line of duty along with his leader at Liaqat Bagh five years ago.
A good number of women activists of the PPP gathered at the residence of women wing President Faiza Malik to pay tributes to late Goga on the occasion of his fifth death anniversary. Quran Khawani and prayer was also held for the departed soul.
Speaking on the occasion, Faiza Malik said that Benazir Bhutto had a relation of love and affection with the party workers who, in turn, were always ready to sacrifice their lives for her. Terming her death a great tragedy, Faiza said that Shaheed Mohtarma sacrificed her life for democracy and supremacy of the Constitution. It was she who had convinced Mian Nawaz Sharif to take part in 2008 elections to jointly fight against the dictator, she added.
