KARACHI – Chairman of Pakistan Transport Federation, Asif Mehmood has demanded the government to compensate them against their vehicles which burnt on December 27, 2007 riots after the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto.While chairing a meeting at his office, he said, “We all were depressed on the day of assassination of our sister and the daughter of the nation. Some unidentified miscreants set 966 vehicles on fire. Various transporters were badly effected and their families are still suffering from the financial crisis.He added that after the incident, the effected transporters still not facilitated by the government.He appealed to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Federal Minister Rehman Malik and Sindh Transport Minister Akhtar Hussain Jadoon to compensate their losses as soon as possible.
