4 fishermen society officials nabbed

KARACHI - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested four serving and former officials of Fishermen Cooperative Society on allegations of corruption.

The suspected serving and former officials of the society were included current marketing manager Gul Muneer, former marketing manager Abu Bakar, former audit manager Shaukat Baloch and former manager society Haji Wali Muhammad. The NAB officials also claimed to have seized record during a raid conducted at the office of the society while the statements of the suspects were also recorded.

According to NAB Karachi spokesperson, the NAB Karachi has arrested four accused persons nominated in an investigation being conducted on allegations of corruption in Fishermen Cooperative Society, adding that NAB is conducting investigations against former chairmen Fisherman Cooperative Society Nisar Morai, Sultan Qamar and their accomplices on allegations of more than 400 illegal appointments and embezzlement of funds worth over Rs500 million.

Raids at various parts of Karachi are underway for arrest of other suspects, he said.
