KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid glowing tributes to former Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 10th martyrdom anniversary being observed at her mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bux on Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

The PPP has finalised arrangements for the congregation, where a million men, women and children are expected to gather to pay tributes to the first Muslim woman elected as Prime Minister after an untiring and arduous struggle wading through an ocean of sacrifices by herself and thousands of her supporters.

In his message on the eve of martyrdom day anniversary, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that those who killed Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had actually planned to kill the whole nation but President Asif Ali Zardari saved the country by raising “Pakistan Khappay” slogan after her assassination in Rawalpindi.

He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto lost her father, brothers and even mother fighting for the rights of downtrodden masses and against dictatorial vultures hovering over the country, freed from the imperial yoke by our forefathers after a long independence movement.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in her valiant battle against the forces of darkness and elements of dictatorships, she eventually embraced martyrdom in line with the legacy of her father Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto but refused to withdraw from the cause. PPP Chairman pledged that the cause, for which Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto laid down her life, would continue to be vigorously pursued for transformation of the country into an egalitarian, democratic, peaceful and progressive Pakistan.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said December 27 is the day to offer salute and tributes to her by every heart, which beats for Pakistan and every mind, which shares her dream for Pakistan and its people. PPP Karachi division caravans leave for Garhi Khuda Bux .Hundreds of Pakistan People’s Party activists along with the Karachi Division leadership on Tuesday left for Garhi Khuda Bux to participate in the 10th death anniversary Benazir Bhutto.

According to a PPP official who is responsible for arranging the buses and other transport setup for the party activists to travel to Garhi Khuda Bux said that over 150 buses were arranged by the party for different districts to travel to the anniversary event.

Giving details, he said that the party had provided around 150 buses for 6 districts of the Karachi division including 32 buses for Karachi south, 18 for East, 45 for Malir, 13 for central, 12 for Korangi and 30 buses for district West.

He said that the division leadership had asked all 13 sub wings of the party including lawyers wing, women wing, People’s Student Federation, culture wing, labour wing and others to fully participate in the event and they also had arranged separate transport arrangements to participate in the event.

The rallies for each district and different wings had travelled separately and were led by their wing presidents or the district presidents or general secretaries. Each rally was welcomed at the main party camp at toll plaza Karachi and the numbers of vehicles in each rally were counted in order to ensure their safety during the journey and at the venue.

Local PPP leader Waqas Shaukat who was part of the district East rally told The Nation that the passion of the rally was more from the rallies in past years. “This year several people who had recently joined ranks of the PPP from other parties like, MQM, PSP and others in the city are also part of it,” he said.

He also said that this year also marked importance as the PPP has emerged as political opponent of the PML-N and this is the last death anniversary before general elections in 2018, therefore, the party activists are curious about the message they would receive from the top leadership for the upcoming elections.
