Rawalpindi - A stage play “Tameer-e-Nau” was screened at Rawalpindi Arts Council to commemorate 142th birth anniversary of founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah here on Tuesday.

A cake cutting ceremony was also arranged by RAC to celebrate Christmas.

According to spokesman of RAC, the two events were parts of weeklong celebrations directed by Punjab Council of the Arts Lahore to pay tribute to the father of the nation.

He said the drama was written and directed Muhammad Aslam Mughal On the occasion, PML-N MPA Raja Muhammad Hanif Advocate flanked by Naheed Manzoor and Director RAC Waqar Ahmed was chief guest. Afzaal Lateefi, Saeed Anwar, Jhalak Ali, Imran Rushdi, Shama Niazi, Faqeer Hussain, Naeem Buba ang Ghyas Mastana were starred in the play.

The thematic play presented imaginative characters of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his sister Fatima Jinnah who appeared on the stage after untoward incidents. The first appearance was made after collapse of a building due to bomb blast in which both characters discussed the purpose of Pakistan’s creation and lamented the current state of affairs. The last part of the drama was based on the message that people should follow the footsteps of Quaid-e-Azam. After the play, MPA Raja Muhammad Hanif along with Naheed Manzoor and Director RAC Waqar Ahmed cut a cake and paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Addressing the audience, MPA Raja Hanif said that the progress of country lay on following the footsteps of the great leader. Naheed Manzoor said that it was need of the hour to forget all differences for the sake of the country. Director RAC Waqar Ahmed also addressed the audience on the occasion and saluted the efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
