PPP supporters flock to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh  to mark BB death aniversary

A large number of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers and supporters have left for Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to pay homage to Benazir Bhutto on her 10th death anniversary to be held on December 27 (today). PPP Punjab activists said Quran Khawani and Fateha Khawani would be held in all parts of the country.  Various functions will also be held to pay hommage to the martyr.  They said the Pakistan People’s Party has always rendered sacrifices for strengthening democracy in the country. “PPP believes in raising the voice of common people nd always struggled for the protection of the rights of the masses,” they added. –APP

 Urs starts from Thursday

Three-day celebrations of the Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qaadir Saani (RA) will start from Thursday at his shrine situated at Birdwood Road linked Waris Road, Lahore.  The Urs celebrations will start after Maghrib prayers with ‘chaadar poshi’ and ‘Charaghaan’. After Friday prayers, a Naat congregation will be held while Muhammad Naeem Zahoori Kasuri, Khursheed Ahmad Golarvi and Liaqat Ali Qadri will recite Naat. Food will be distributed after Asr prayers. After Isha prayers, the Urs congregation will be addressed by Allama Nazakat Hussain Golarvi, Qari M Qasim, Hamad Ali Shah, Pir Noor Ilahi Anwar and M Ajmal Qadri. On Saturday, the Urs activities will be concluded after Asr prayers with Dua.–Staff Reporter

 98 ASIs promoted

SSP (Administration) Rana Ayaz Saleem has okayed the promotion of 98 assistant sub-inspectors to sub-inspectors. The approval was made at a meeting of promotion board at CCPO office Tuesday. SSP (Operations) Muntazir Mehdi and SSP (Investigation) Ghulam Mubahsir Maikan were also present among other members of board. The cases of 180 officials were under observation for promotion from ASI to SI. Head of Promotion Board Rana Ayaz Saleem congratulated to all promotees from Lahore Police. Moreover, he said that following the vision of IGP Arif Nawaz Khan, Lahore Police held nine sessions of board of promotion during current year in which more than 2700 constables and head-constables and all other many officials of different ranks have been promoted. He said that the process of promotion has been quickened by the cooperation of staff of DIG operations and SSP Investigation offices and other concerned offices. He finally said that for encouragement of officials the process of promotion board will remain continued in future as well. –APP
