What made Katie cry?

SHE'S been working flat out recently and endured a punishing detox diet, so who could blame Katie Holmes for becoming over-emotional? Mrs Cruise looked little short of a wreck combining motherhood with a demanding stint on Broadway and her work even forced her to miss the fun at the Oscars. But before fans begin to worry about the actress and mother's state of mind, it should be pointed out that the 30-year-old was pictured in tears on the set of her new movie, The Extra Man. Dressed in a three-quarter length plaid coat, brown boots and green hat, the actress pulled off a convincing impression of someone in the depths of despair. Fans will have to wait until the film's release next year to discover the reason behind Katie's tears, however. But it appears she does take some solace in the arms of up-and-coming actor Paul Dano, who was also on set yesterday and who was BAFTA nominated last year for the 2007 film There Will Be Blood. At one point Katie is seen getting a hug from the dashing gent, who starred in the 2006 film Little Miss Sunshine. However if Dano's body language is anything to go by, it seems he is not all that comfortable with her fragile emotional state. Producer Anthony Bregman said of the film: 'This is a film for our times, these hilarious characters living on the edge of enormous wealth, scrapping for small pieces of the pie. 'I suspect a lot of people will be able to identify nowadays.' The movie also stars John C. Reilly and is being co-directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. - Daily Mail
