Shaukat Tareens resignation was being whispered for sometime. In my opinion, he was forced to resign in circumstances that were created to compel him to do so. Perhaps he could not condone the scams worth billion of dollars that came to haunt him in the papers every morning. His suggestions on rampant corruption, incompetence, and misgovernance seemingly fell flat on the deaf ears in the PPP. He was a thorn in the flesh of this entire incompetent cabinet and would now be replaced by a suitably pliant man who would allow the looters to pluck every last bit of the fruit from a poor mans orchard and wouldnt leave even half a loaf of bread for those dying of hunger. My main worry is for sixteen billion dollars that are in the forex reserves as of now. After Shaukat Tareen leaves and the new addition to this pack of financial marauders takes over, a lot of that we have now would be wiped out in a few months. Beware countrymen of the new guy coming to replace the honest Mr Tareen. -A. B. MUSTAFA, Peshawar, February 25.
