Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was elected unopposed as the president of Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) in Punjab chapter on Wednesday.

Chaudhry Zaheeruddin was elected as the secretary general of the party.

Addressing his party office bearers, Elahi said PML-Q is a democratic party, which has held party elections for the fourth consecutive time.

“We continued our tradition of holding fair elections in a transparent manner,” he remarked.

He said that his party had carried out a record development work in the history of Pakistan.

The PML-Q leader questioned the performance of PML-N government in Punjab. “PML-N has been running the government with the help of turncoats. It has weakened the democracy.”

Pervaiz Elahi thanked activities of PML-Q and said that performance of his party wings was remained outstanding. He said that transparent intra party elections were held due to confidence of workers reposed over PML-Q.

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said he will continue his efforts for strengthening democracy in the country.

He said that his party had boosted education sector with providing free education to girls and boys till matric level when he was the chief minister of province but current government ruined the education sector.

Pervaiz Elahi said Shahbaz Sharif was giving laptop to the students asking cast their vote to PML-N.

Elahi lashed out at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), alleging that the party has done nothing for the development of southern Punjab.

He said the Punjab government had no interest in solving people’s problems, instead, it was involved in corrupt activities.
