KARACHI – Eleven people were killed in separate incidents of violence here on Tuesday.

A local leader of Alhe Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) was shot dead near telephone exchange, Preedy Street in Brigade Police precincts.

Police said that victim Imran, 35, son of Haji Sultan, left home for work on a motorcycle when unidentified assailants intercepted and sprayed bullets on him. Resultantly, he died on the spot.

The body was handed over to his heirs after autopsy at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC). Police suspect that the motive behind the incident was recent wave of sectarian killing while family of deceased and workers ASWJ staged protest against the killing and demanded immediate arrest of the assailants.

Meanwhile, an owner of a sanitary shop was gunned down in Sector 4-B in Surjani Town Police limits.

According to police, Khalid Hussain32, son of Ikram Hussain, was present at his shop where unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on him, killing him on the spot.

The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for postmortem. The motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained. In another incident, a student of a private university was shot dead in Punjab Colony in jurisdiction of Frere Police Station.

Police said that victim Mansoor Ahmed Niyazi, 24, son of Shair Bahadur Niyazi, a resident of same area, was standing near his home when pillion armed riders shot him twice. Resultantly, he sustained bullet injures and died on the spot.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to JPMC for autopsy and later handed over to his family. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained, while further investigation was underway.

In yet another strike, a woman was gunned down at Mai Jee Road in Soldier Bazaar Police limits.

According to police, a woman, identified as Sumera22, was standing with an unidentified man who shot her twice and escaped the scene. Resultantly, she died on the spot. Police rushed on the spot and shifted the body to CHK for medico legal formalities. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, body of a man was found near KMC graveyard with in the jurisdiction of Saeedabad Police Station.

Police said that victim’s identification could not be ascertained. The body was moved to morgue after postmortem at Civil Hospital Karachi.

An activist of Sunni Tehreek namely Majid, 35, was gunned down in Urdu Bazaar area within the jurisdiction of Aram Bagh police station. SHO Imdad Khawaja said that the victim dropped his wife at a local clinic where two armed riders came and shot him thrice and managed to flee from the spot. Police shifted the victim to Civil Hospital where doctor pronounced his death. Khawaja confirmed that the victim was associated with the ST.

In the remits of Jackson police, a man namely Firdous Khan, 55, was shot dead at Massan Chowk, Kemari, where some unidentified armed riders shot him dead. Police handed over his body to the heirs after autopsy at CHK. Police has yet to be ascertained the motive behind the killing. 

A young man namely Rehman Gul, 28, son of Abdul Raheem allegedly committed suicide in his home situated at Muzaffarabad Colony within the remits of Quaidabad police station. It is impossible for a man to shot himself from backside although police have recovered a pistol from crime scene.

Meanwhile, unknown culprits riding a motorbike threw a hand cracker targeting a Unit Office of Muttahida Qaumi Movement at Talpur Road within the remits of Saddar police station. Police said that cracker was thrown to create panic because no one was hurt in the attack but a car parked outside the office was partially damaged. 

Two young men were gunned down in Orangi Town area within the remits of Mominabad police station.

Police said that the victims were sitting near Nishan-e-Haider Chowk when some unidentified armed riders came and resorted to indiscriminate firing on them. Both the victims died on the spot. Police shifted the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for completion of medicolegal formalities and later moved to morgue for identification. The identification of both the victims has yet to be ascertained till the filing of this story.

Another man namely Badin Khan, 24, was shot dead in a targeted attack in Muslim Colony in Pirabad Police precincts. DSP Zahid Khan said that the victim was going to home when unknown armed men targeted him. The body was handed over to heirs after autopsy at Civil Hospital.
