Banks fined over poor security

Islamabad - The district administration yesterday fined commercial banks in the suburbs of the capital city over poor security.
Askari Bank, Habib Bank Limited and Allied Bank in Bara Kahu area were fined after the concerned assistant commissioner found their security unsatisfactory. The security audit inspection was conducted by the Assistant Commissioner (Sectt) Capt (Retd) Waqas Rashid over complaint by the SHO Bara Kahu. The bank branches of Askari Bank, Habib Bank and Allied Bank Bhara Kahu were heavily fined for not ensuring requisite security measures around their premises and for the visitors.
The CCTVs were out of order, less number of security guards were employed, no protective shield for guards was in place and no fire alarm system was installed. Cases have been registered against managers of the banks under Shops and Establishment (Security) Act 1999. The managers however, assured to overcome the deficiencies within 15 days.
Meanwhile, city administration sealed a famous bakery in Super Market and a milk sale point in Farooqia Market here over unsatisfactory hygiene and substandard food items.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested 24 outlaws, including 11 Afghan nationals, from various areas of the city and recovered weapons, wine as well as stolen property from their possession, a police spokesman said yesterday.
According to details, Shalimar police arrested two bootleggers Sarfaraz and Muhammad Jameel and recovered 30 litres of wine and six tin beers from their possession.
Golra police apprehended two persons Bukhtawar Sher and Gul Ghair Khan involved in illegal sale of petroleum products. Shams Colony police apprehended a person Noorul Ameen involved in illegal gas filling. Karachi Company police apprehended seven Afghan nationals Asmat Ullah, Taza Gul, Habib-Ullah, Anwar Ali, Jaafer Khan, Abdul Khan and Ameer Ali.

Margalla police apprehended an impersonator Muhammad Imran Rasheed. Secretariat police arrested two accused Mujhaid Hussain and Atif Nasir and recovered one 30-bore illicit pistol along with ammunition and one wine bottle from their possession. Nilor police arrested Nazart Hussain and recovered one 30-bore illicit pistol along with ammunition. Cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation is under way.
