PU signs MOU with Chinese university

LAHORE - Prof Fang Hao, Vice President, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, D. Xiaoqing Xie, School of Public Administration, Dr. Changqian Ma, Professor of Petrology and Mr. Yuang Jiang, Director International Students Office, China University of Geosciences paid a visit to Punjab University Vice-Chancellor on Monday.
They had been coordinating with Dr Maria Isabel Maldonado Garcia for the signing of an MoU. The ceremony took place at the VC office.
The Vice President stated that he is willing to collaborate in the fields of geology and coal technology. This MoU will strengthen the ties with China in relation to the upcoming economic corridor. The officials of the two universities expressed their resolve to continue with campaign for bringing in educational reforms.
PEF starts distributing education vouchers: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has decided to stop funding of play group of private schools associated with its Education Voucher Scheme (EVS). However, this will effect from the month of April 2016 when the next academic session will formally commence.
A departmental notification has been issued by the PEF Director (EVS) Ms. Samina Nawaz in this regard.
The circular has informed the EVS partners that funding will start from the level of Nursery or Prep from upcoming academic year.
Similarly, the option of data entry of play group in the ‘Student information System’ software will also be stopped. Therefore, the schools are advised to update their relevant record in the light of this decision.
Meanwhile, Punjab Education Foundation has started distributing education vouchers to help continue the education of EVS beneficiaries in affiliated schools. PEF has, therefore, advised the parents to bring either of voucher’s guardian copy, original CNIC or child’s birth certificate with them for receiving the vouchers.
After the completion of vouchers’ distribution, EVS schools will submit their duly signed and stamped vouchers, mentioning new class of the student, to the foundation in the month of April, concluded the circular.
