RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has accorded approval to release Rs3.41 billion for purchase of medical equipment and other hardware for the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), a health official said.

The 400-bed RIU is been built on 96 kanals on Murree Road and June 30, 2017 has been set the deadline for completion of the project.

Out of the funds, Rs1.86 billion will be spent on purchasing state-of-the-art machinery including X-ray and operation machines while Rs1.55 billion will be spent on civil works in the hospital, the official added.
