LAHORE The DIG Motorways visited sector M-2 (South) & M-3 and held a meeting with the chief patrolling officers of the sector in order to review the performance of the sector during 2010. DIG Dr Muhammad Shafique informed that over 2,64,343 violators were penalised while 1,54,111 helps were rendered to the distressed commuters. About 29 lost children were reunited with their families and 54 culprits involved in different crimes were apprehended. Moreover, 25 stolen/snatched vehicles and lost valuables worth Rs 1 million were recovered and handed over to their lawful owners after completing necessary formalities. In order to reduce the tendency of over-speeding on Motorway, 40,440 tickets were issued to the violators in sector M-2 (South) & M-3 regardless of the social status of the violators. In an endeavour to reduce the accident toll on Motorway, 12 different campaigns were effectively launched in the sector. Similarly, briefing was imparted to 4,22,701 commuters in this regard.
