IHC upholds lower court verdict

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed an intra-court appeal seeking annulment of murder case against Mumtaz Qadri, self-confessed assassin of Salman Taseer, on Wednesday. A two-member bench comprises IHC Chief Justice Rehman and Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan heard the appeal filed by Advocate Zaffar Awan and reserved the decision on Tuesday and issued verdict on Wednesday. The petitioner moved the IHC against the decision of a Rawalpindi court in which the court dismissed the petition filed for cancellation of the murder case against Qadri. Farooq Awan, Additional Attorney General, also appeared before the court. Taking to The Nation, he said the IHC in its short verdict had declared that the petition was not maintainable. The court upheld the decision of lower judiciary, he added.
